What's up tailgaters! My name is Josh, and as a native of Southern California, and a graduate of the University of Arizona, college football and tailgating are in my blood! Sure, I love to hike, backpack, golf, run, and surf, but all of that is taking a back seat this Fall to host what may be the greatest "job" in history - seriously... I would do this for free!
I'll be hosting the weekly Xbox 360 tailgate tour at 14 of the biggest college football venues in the country. From Alabama to Nebraska to USC and LSU, we'll be showcasing the newest game releases on Kinect for Xbox 360, new Windows Phone 7 products, letting you strike a pose with an actual Heisman trophy (our buddy, Gino Torretta, winner at Miami-'92, lent it to us) and of course, plenty of tailgating action.
I am totally psyched for the 2011 college football season, and hope to see you on the road... be sure and find me at the Xbox 360 tent at one of our destinations you'll have a chance to win a brand new Xbox 360 with Kinect, or a Windows Phone 7!
Well, the annual Bedlam game had a number of surprises in store for us - hanging out with 80's pop legend, Huey Lewis, torrential rain, wind, and lightning storms! The night prior to the game, we ran into Huey Lewis AND the News in the hotel bar, and they didn't believe we had the Heisman... so we pulled it out of the truck and let them take photos with it! Do you realize how many records these guys sold back in the 80's? We digress. Driving up to Stillwater from OK City on Saturday morning proved to be one of the hairiest experiences we have ever had on tour, and left us wondering how we were going to pull this off in the conditions. Pouring rain, lightning everywhere, and huge wind gusts. We stood under a tent and stared at eachother for about an hour, thinking how we were going to demo Xbox with Kinect, hook up a bunch of Windows Phones and make it through the day without electrocuting ourselves! Well, wouldn't you know, the football gods were on our side... the skies parted (bucking weather forecasts), we set up, and wound up hosting a killer tailgate. If you aren't familiar with OU and OK State, they reeeeeally don't like eachother, and OK State has been the stepchild for years in that state. Well, this year, they took it to OU, crushing them 44-10 and making a solid case for a spot in the National Championship! We're off for a couple weeks, then we wrap up the season in San Francisco for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on New Years Eve - see you there!

Well, the tailgating environment outside Death Valley stadium and the matchup certainly didn't disappoint - #1 LSU against #3 Arkansas with BCS National Championship implications on the line... we've had this one circled all year, knowing that both teams had a shot to be in the running, but we had no idea it would be this big! Once again, our friends at Pluckers Wings, just south of the stadium, hosted us outside their restaurant, the main artery into the stadium. Given that it was a 1:30 local kick, we weren't sure what to expect as far as a crowd, given that it was the day after Thanksgiving. As the Hall-of-Fame broadcaster, Keith Jackson, would say - "Whoooooooah Nellie!"
We were up and running by 8:30am, and had crowds forming to check out the Heisman, play Kinect, and demo the Windows Phones while they waited for the aforementioned. It was crazy - cowboys, babies, insane Tiger fans, and a handful of Arkansas co-eds sprinkled in for good measure. We love coming to Baton Rouge and look forward to doing it again next year. As for the game, LSU went down early, but bounced back and outscored Arkansas 41-3 from the waning minutes of the first half through the second half. There is no doubt that LSU is the best team in college football right now. Next week, we're off to Stillwater for the classic "Bedlam" matchup, between OKST and OU... what a way to finish out the regular season!

What can we say about setting up outside one of the most famous football stadiums in all of college football? It just has... a presence. Of course, we're talking about "The Horseshoe", Ohio State's famed stadium. Our tent location for setting up was about 100 yards from the SE entrance of the stadium (right leg of the shoe for those scoring at home), perfect for Kinect product trials, Windows Phone demo's, and plenty of cold beverages from the Yeti Coolers, though we should have probably been serving hot coffee and hot chocolate given how cold it was! Not that we're looking ahead, but the Arkansas/LSU game on 11/25 in a warmer climate is starting to sound pretty good.
Unfortunately for Ohio State, they lost at home to the scandal-plagued Penn State Nittany Lions, 20-14. Next week is a huge matchup with #1 LSU hosting #3 Arkansas in what may be the biggest game of the year. We're psyched for such a big game, psyched for the warmer weather, but would feel bad if we didn't mention the friendly, hospitable fans in the Big 10. We had a great road-trip to the likes of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio State, with thousands of people trying Kinect for the first time, all leaving with smiles on their faces. That's what it's about, isn't it?
