It’s official, Johnny Manziel won the 2012 Heisman Trophy Award, the first freshman in the history of the award to do so. Quite an achievement for a 19 year old, especially when you consider the environment in which he was competing.

The 2012 Pac-12 season took a wild turn towards the end of the season, when Stanford upset Oregon in an overtime thriller to squash any hopes the Ducks had of playing for a National Championship. Earlier that day, Kansas State lost to Baylor in what would have set Oregon up as the second of two unbeaten teams (Notre Dame), but the Ducks blew it, handing Stanford the inside track to the Pac-12 Championship game.
